Discount stores eye expansion in Costa Rica

Discount stores in Costa Rica are aiming to grow in number this year throughout the country, Costa Rican daily La República reported.

Since 2011, the number of discount stores operating in the Central American nation has grown 16 percent, most of them outside of the San José metropolitan area.

Chains with operations in Costa Rica include Ekono, Pequeño Mundo and Mundo Mágico.
