Ecopetrol joins forces with Chevron

Ecopetrol America, the US subsidiary of Colombia's state-owned oil company, has reached an agreement with Chevron Texaco to buy into the Mississippi Canyon Block in US waters in the Gulf of Mexico.

Chevron thus reduces its participation in the block to 21 percent, with Hess keeping its majority 57 percent, Finance Colombia reports.
