El Nino could cause losses to Panama economy

Bad weather brought by "El Niño" could cause severe losses to several sectors of the Panamanian economy.

In order to prevent big losses, the country's government and private sector must prepare for that eventuality, said Olmedo Estrada, president of the School of Economists.

According to experts, "El Niño" will last some 18 months, extending through 2015.
