El Niño is hitting hardest in Central America

Almost 10 million people are affected in Central America by the El Niño weather system, said the UN’s deputy general secretary on humanitarian affairs, Stephen O’Brien.

Countries such as El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras are suffering most as a result of the climate, and they must be a priority for the UN, said O’Brien.
