El Salvador airport

Monday, April 30, 2012

To upgrade the country's main airport, El Salvador is considering a joint venture between the public sector and a private developer. Initial plans call for an investment of $800 million to improve Comalapa International. The legislative assembly is currently studying new rules, which would let a private company build and operate a Salvadoran airport. A partnership with a private company would provide both funding and expertise. Built in 1970, Comalapa has had several phases of expansion. But the main hub of regional carrier TACA has reached its maximum capacity of 2.2 million passengers per year.
