El Salvador industrialists seek business to develop trade links with Cuba

Friday, October 1, 2010

The visit to Cuba by Mauricio Funes, the president of El Salvador, follows renewed diplomatic links after years of a freeze between the two countries.

Now El Salvador’s business leaders are hoping to seek new contacts on the island. “This is a very good opportunity,” said Tharis López, a leader of the Salvadoran association of industrialists.

Over the last decade, trade between the two countries has been minimal, though El Salvador’s exports have been greater than Cuba’s.
