El Salvador launches rescue plan for 6,000 job losses

Wednesday, July 26, 2017

El Salvador has launched a plan to boost worker training and streamline customs to speed up apparel exports to the United States and be more competitive against increasingly nimble players such as Honduras.

The move comes after El Salvador in January hiked factory workers wages by 39 percent, angering the companies. The industry association, Camtex, says that 6,000 jobs have been lost by the industry.
