El Salvador looks to 39 percent drop in production during current coffee harvest

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

El Salvador is expected to produce even less coffee during the 2011-2012 harvest than the previous season, the general manager of Ibero El Salvador, Mauricio Muyshondt, said.

The country's production will probably drop to 1 million 60 kilo bags, down 39 percent from what the country produced last season, said Muyshondt.

Last year, rain in January hurt this season's harvest. The problem was increased due to torrential rain in the fall.
