El Salvador loses $1.27 billion each year

Thursday, February 20, 2014

From 2009, El Salvador has lost an average $1.27 billion each year in investment due to its deteriorated business climate and security issues.

Up to 2007, the country averaged $430 million each year, but starting in 2009, the figure has declined, the country's social and economic development foundation, Fusades, said.

Companies choose to invest elsewhere because of El Salvador's investment conditions, security and honour of contracts, economist Álvaro Trigueros said.
