El Salvador phone companies challenge legislators

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

The six mobile phone companies operating in El Salvador claim a new legislative act is unconstitutional.

The act would leave interconnection charges and rates in the hands of the country's electricity regulator. It would also lead to increases in international call rates, they claim.

Claro, Digicel, Tigo, Telefónica, Red and GCA Telecom asked President Mauricio Funes yesterday to veto the new law.
