El Salvador provides a ray of hope amid violence

Violence in Central America is detrimental to the economic progress of the region, the region's business associations agree.

However, El Salvador is making progress in establishing peace between its warring gangs, the "maras", after they agreed to a truce in February.

Members of the 18th Street gang held a meeting with the Organization of American States, as they want the organization to serve as a guarantee of the truce between them and the MS-13 gang.
