El Salvador received $3.65 billion in remittances last year the central bank says

Last year, El Salvador received $3.65 billion in remittances sent by the nation's emigrants, a 6.4 percent annual increase.
The central bank says that last year's figure amounts to 16 percent of the gross domestic product.
It also noted that the figure fel only slightly short of the $3.74 billion record set in 2008, before the international economic crisis began.
