El Salvador recovers thousands of jobs lost during the crisis years of 2008-2009

El Salvador's Social Security Institute announced the recovery of about 39,000 jobs lost in the 2008-2009 crisis and the creation of 11,000 more in 2011.

The number of registered employees in the system in September was 722,502, approximately 11,764 more than those prior to the crisis in July 2008.

The Salvadoran economy was hit very hard in 2008 by the financial difficulties of the US, and in 2009 it fell to minus 3.1 percent.
