El Salvador's coffee industry expects to earn $200 million less from the current crop

Monday, February 6, 2012

Representatives of El Salvador's coffee industry predict this year's harvest to be 1.1 million quintals less than the previous year.

In financial terms, the losses represent more than $200 million.

The factors taken into account to predict the loss are the effects of poor weather, the low productivity of land and the bi-annual production cycle of coffee.
