El Salvador's exports drop by 2.9 percent in quarter

Tuesday, May 7, 2013

El Salvador's exports fell by 2.9 percent year-on-year in the first quarter. The result shows the lack of the nation's economy, analysts say.

El Salvador exported $1.36 billion in the quarter, down by $40.3 million in the same period of last year.

Luis Membreño, an economic analyst, said that Salvadoran products are not competitive in Central American and US markets.
