El Salvador's Mauricio Funes was rated as the most popular Central American president in a poll carried out by Mexico's Consulta Mitofsky.

The poll was based on the approval rating of each country's voters: Funes rated 65 percent.

Costa Rica's Laura Chinchilla was the least popular president with 26 percent, just ahead of Panama's Ricardo Martinelli, who scored 33 percent.

Funes was followed in the ranking by Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua and Porfirio Lobo of Honduras.
