El Salvador sells 80 percent of its gold

El Salvador’s central bank sold 80 percent of its gold reserves in March, Roberto Arévalo, the bank’s risk analyst, told Reuters news agency.

Arévalo said that the bank sold 5,412 metric tons of gold in return for $206 million, saying that the cash produced would make a safeguard against market volatility.
