El Salvador shows mixed construction results

El Salvador's construction industry ended 2013 with a contribution of less than 1 percent to the country's gross domestic product.

But in the first quarter this year, the number of approved mortgage credits rose 11.8 percent, according to the Salvadoran construction chamber.

Formal construction jobs grew 1.4 percent in the same period.
