El Salvador to auction telecoms spectrum

Four telecoms companies have shown interest in a recently announced tender for 40 Megahertz of spectrum by El Salvador's telecommunications authority.
The firms interested are Costa Rican state-owned ICE; Intelfon, of Guatemalan, Panamanian and Salvadoran capital; and El Salvador's Salnet.
But the country's antitrust authority asked the Government to aim the tender at new companies, in order to promote competitiveness.
