El Salvador to import 9,000 metric tons of beans from China to meet domestic needs

The government of El Salvador announced imports of 9,000 metric tons of beans from China to meet demand. Beans and corn are staples of the national diet.
El Salvador is going to pay $4.5 million for the purchase.
Heavy rainfall from the Matthew and Nicole storms last September caused severe damage to crops such as beans.
