El Salvador to reopen wireless spectrum tender

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

El Salvador's power and telecommunications regulator Siget has relaunched the tender of the 1,900 Megahertz and 1,700-2,100 Megahertz advanced wireless services spectrum blocks.

Intelfón, Red, Salnet, and the Costa Rican state telco ICE have all expressed interest in the auction.

The auction, originally launched in early October, was initially delayed by the anti-trust regulator, which said that the conditions did not allow sufficient market competition and asked for only new businesses to be allowed to bid.
