El Salvador wins top marks for social plans: Eclac

Thursday, August 30, 2012

El Salvador has made progress in terms of social inequality, and stood out in Central America as one of the countries that most invested in social programs, according to the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, known as Eclac.

One of the main points that helped El Salvador is that the government has managed to invest more than 13 per cent of the country's gross domestic product in social programs.

Eclac also expects El Salvador's economy to grow 2 per cent this year, helped by dynamic sectors such as remittances.
