Ellington Investments holds fire on Inmet Mining’s Cobre Panama project

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Ellington Investments, an affiliate of Singapore’s state-owned Temasek Holdings has decided to extend its deadline for investing in a mining project in Panama.

The company had set September 30 as the limit for investment of $500 million in Minera Panama.

Minera is an affiliate of Canada’s Inmet Mining, which holds the Cobre Panama copper project.

Ellington is waiting for Panama’s government to relax the mining law’s restrictions on ownership of projects by foreign states.
