Environmental concerns pause Limón mega port work

The Limón mega port project in Costa Rica was provisionally suspended by a court citing environmental issues, Costa Rican daily La República reported.

The Japdeva workers' union presented a complaint to the court concerning the construction of a 2-kilometer road that will lead to the port, aiming to protect the Cariari wetlands and impede the felling of some 900 trees.

The project, which is already four months behind schedule, will restart once the corresponding ministries present their solutions to the court.
