Exchange rate takes vengeance on Guatemala’s boom in sugar and coffee earnings

Prices of Guatemala’s top-quality coffee have reached their highest level for 14 years in New York.
Sugar prices have also hit their highest in three decades, at 30 US cents a pound.
However, producers of coffee and sugar are unable to cash in fully on the bonanza. The strength of the quetzal against the dollar has undermined their earnings.
