Expansion work starts on El Salvador hydroelectric plant

Excavation work for a new canal, part of expansion works on El Salvador's 5 de Noviembre hydroelectric plant, are scheduled to start next week.

Brazilian firms Queiroz Galvao and Andritz Hydro Inepar are in charge of the work, said Leopoldo Samour, president of the Río Lempa hydroelectric committee.

The committee expects the expansion works on the plant to be finished in three years.
