Experts concerned over Panama Canal delays

Monday, November 18, 2013

The current delays in the Panama Canal expansion project could have negative consequences in the future, experts said.

A lack of ports on the country's Pacific coast is also worrying, as well as the need to expand the ports on the Atlantic coast.

Some symptoms of deterioration in the system are already visible, said Carlos Urriola, vicepresident of Manzanillo International Terminal, adding that they are made worse because "we think we are the only ones who can do this job".
