Falabella steps on gas ahead of Amazon's arrival in Colombia

Wednesday, October 24, 2018

The Chilean retail chain Falabella aims to invest $275 million in order to boost its e-commerce defenses ahead of the arrival in Colombia of Amazon.

Falabella has recently acquired on-line retailer Linio and formed an alliance with Ikea, the world's leading retailer of furniture in what appears to be a battle formation for retail in Latin America.

Argentina's InfoTechnology says the $275 million will add to the $550 million that Falabella obtained from a share offering a few months ago. As a result, Falabella will have a very healthy war-chest to face competition in the region and beyond.
