Central American growth will slow down this year due to the slowness of the US economic recovery, high oil prices and a reduced level of bank lending, according to Fitch Ratings.
The agency predicts overall growth of the region of 4.2 percent by the end of this year, but expects a recovery to reach 4.5 percent in 2013.
Central America is unlikely to return soon to pre-crisis levels, said Lucila Broaide, a director of Fitch Ratings.
