Free trade benefits Panama and United States

U.S. exports to Panama have increased by $770 million since a trade promotion agreement between both countries took effect in October 2012.
The figure represents an increase of 20 percent, while Panamanian exports to the U.S. grew 34 percent to $50 million.
Overall, U.S. 2012 merchandise exports to Panama totaled $9.9 billion, while imports totaled $542 million.
