Free-zone jobs exodus to Nicarauga hits Honduras

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

Some 16 free-zone companies have moved from Honduras to El Salvador and Nicaragua over the last year and a half.

The president of the Honduran free-zone association, Daniel Facussé, said the jobs flight was mainly due to lower wages in Nicaragua.

The six companies that left Honduras since the beginning of the 2009 political crisis have cost 12,000 job losses in the country.
