Free zones in Honduras look for a bumper year in 2011

Thursday, December 9, 2010

Free-zone industries in Honduras, mainly apparel and textiles, are expecting to close the year with a 28 percent increase in exports and the recovery of some 18,000 jobs.

The sector’s business leaders say the same trends seek sure to continue in 2011, given the government’s support for improved labor laws.

The companies hope that the free trade agreement with Canada will be signed, while the accord with Europe is due to come into force.
