From human dumps to productive units

As in much of Central America, prisons in Costa Rica are violent, insalubrious places where only the strongest survive, and without making any attempt to reform the prisoners.

But there is a new type of prison now in Costa Rica, which are productive units, where inmates have room to work and study. At the end of their sentence they have the opportunity to return to the labor market.
