Funes and Lula aim for greater economic cooperation on basis of ethanol

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

The presidents of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and El Salvador, Mauricio Funes, supported the need to increase regional economic integration. The two leaders were meeting in Sao Paulo.

Lula said that one of the most promising aspects of Brazil’s relationship with El Salvador and the rest of Central America is the production and export of cane ethanol.

Brazil is the world’s leading producer of ethanol from sugarcane, but the United States leads for ethanol in general.
