Gambling in slot machines and casinos rakes in $1.4 billion a year in Panama

The gambling and games of chance sector generated $1.4 billion of revenue in Panama during 2011.

Slot machines account for 75 percent of the total, followed by games of chance with 19 percent and horse race betting with 3 percent.

Slot machines also generated 48 percent of the $63.1 billion in tax to the government of Panama in 2011.
