Gap opens a beachhead in Panama as part of strategy for international growth

American apparel company Gap has opened its first stores in Panama, as part of its international growth strategy.

Gap, which also has an agreement with Superior Retail, opened a Gap store and a Banana Republic brand store in the Albrook Mall, Panama.

A high rate of tourism and a rapidly growing demand for international retail brands, Panamá provides an ideal environment in which to introduce Gap and Banana Republic, said Stefan Laban, managing director of strategic alliances for Gap Inc.
