Gasoline shock hits Mexico with price hikes of up to 20 percent

Mexican consumers and much of the business community were shocked by an abrupt price increase of as much as 20 percent in prices of gasoline and diesel.

The announcement comes as some part of the country are facing gasoline shortages. Meanwhile a free retail market in gasoline is due to be phased in from March until the end of 2017.
