Monday, September 27, 2010

For the first time, Panama has a  positive trade surplus with Canada following  the opening of the the Petaquilla gold mine in Colón.

During the first half of the year, exports to Canada totaled $37.4 million, while imports were $29.1 million.

Panama exported $33 million worth of gold to Canada in the first six months of the year. Without that, Panama would have had its usual trade deficit with Canada.
