Grandbay launches $33 million paper mill in Guatemala

Grandbay–Papelera Internacional launched a new paper mill in Guatemala that represents a $33 million investment. Grandbay is a multi-latina group that is based in the country.

The mill will increase production from 42,000 to 70,000 metric tons. The expansion will provide for exports to Panama and from there to Caribbean markets. It will replace imports of 16,000 metric tons of part-finished paper.

Grandbay has operations in Guatemala City and in the department of Zacapa, where the mill is installed.
