Growth in fruit and vegetables establish Central America as global trading partner

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

Central America is rapidly becoming an important global trading partner as its fruit and vegetable exports grow.

In May, the association agreement between the European Union and Central America was finalized, allocating agricultural import quotas from Central America to Europe and taking another step toward a united Central American business region.

Of US vegetable imports, Guatemala exported $120 million, followed by Costa Rica at $82 million and Honduras at $50 million.
