Grupo Pellas invests in Nicaragua’s El Nuevo Diario ‘in order to ensure stability’

A sugar conglomerate invested an undisclosed sum into Editorial Nuevo Amanecer, the publishing company of Nicaragua’s El Nuevo Diario, so ensuring the daily’s financial stability.
Grupo Pellas, owner of the San Antonio sugar estate and maker of Flor de Caña rum, said only that the daily “will continue to maintain its editorial independence in favor of Nicaragua, with pluralism, transparency and professionalism.” The group said that it had been in talks with the owners of the paper, the Chamorr family.
