Guatemala aims for higher sugar output

Guatemala will produce 2.8 million metric tons of sugar in the current 2013-2014 harvest, said Mario Yarzebsky, who represents the nation’s sugar producers in international negotiations.

Last year, Guatemala produced 2.7 million tons.

Guatemala is the world’s third leading producer per hectare and number four among exporters.
