Guatemala business leaders seek resolution of Tahoe dispute

Thursday, July 19, 2018

CACIF, the organization that groups Guatemala's business leaders, have sent an official message to the Constitutional Court seeking an explanation of what is happening in the case of the Escobal mine of Canada's Tahoe Resources.

Operations of Escobal, one of the world's leading silver mines, have been paralyzed for more than a year while the court tries to resolve a dispute that involves indigenous groups.

CACIF maintains that the delays has sent a very negative signal to foreign investors.
