Guatemala City has granted permits for a bus terminal to be known as Centra Norte to be granted by the developer Servicios para Centrales and the Colombian construction company Conconcreto.
The companies aim to invest $50 million in construction of the bus station which will handle transfers from urban to long-distance routes. Construction will begin next month and is due to last for 18 months.
The station will prevent traffic congestion from urban buses and create a large commercial space to include 300 shops, banks and restaurants.
