Guatemala comes last in fiscal performance

Guatemala is at the bottom of the list of 18 Latin American countries in the Economic Commission for Latin America's, Eclac, fiscal performance ranking.

The average tax income rate in the region grew 20 percent in 2012, but Guatemala registered 12.3 percent.

This year, the country's tax authority aims to collect $6.5 billion, however, that goal can only be reached if it bolsters its technical and administrative capacities, analysts say.
