Guatemala expects $1 billion in foreign investment

Guatemala hopes to receive $1 billion of foreign direct investment this year, according to the country's National Competitiveness Program.
The amount would mean a 10 percent increase compared with 2011.
From January through April this year, some 19,000 jobs have been created due to the country's economic recovery, said Carlos Contreras, Minister of Work for Guatemala.
