Guatemala in top 50 countries for cellular customers

Guatemala is the Central American country with the largest number of mobile customers, according to a report by the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States.

With a population just over 15 million people, Guatemala last year had 21 million active lines, placing it 46th in the world in cell phone penetration.

Nicaragua is last in Central America 108th globally.

The ranking of 217 countries is headed by China, while the island of Tuvalu ranks last (figures in brackets indicate the position in the world of each country).
