Guatemala invested $250 million to combat poverty during the Colom administration

The president of Guatemala, Álvaro Colom, cl,aims that his administration invested some $250 million to fight poverty. More than half of the nation's 14.7 million inhabitants are poor.

Colom, whose four-year administration concludes on Saturday, said that his programs reached 307 of the country's 333 municipalities.

During his administration, Colom said that his leading project, Mi Familia Progresa, made progress "that could have only been achieved otherwise in two decades".
