Guatemala invites new tenders for Xalalá hydro scheme

Thursday, April 12, 2012

Tenders for the Xalalá hydroelectric scheme in Guatemala were declared void in 2008.

Three years later, the National Electrification Institute is relaunching the project. Tenders are to be invited next year.

Xalalá is expected to have a capacity of 181 megawatts, which would make it the number two hydro scheme in Guatemala after the 280-megawatt Chixoy.
