Guatemala launches raft of new power tenders

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Guatemala plans to invite tenders for a total of 800 megawatts of electricity generation in the coming months. The plan for the tenders is structured in several stages and will close in October. More than 60 percent of the new generation will be from renewable sources.

The government is calling on foreign companies in particular to take part in the tenders, which will amount to about half of the country’s generation capacity.
